| ADA-Paratransit & Share-A-Ride |
Eureka Springs is committed to following the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities
Act (ADA). To that end, we offer "ADA-Paratransit Service" for disabled individuals who are
unable to use the regular, fixed route transit service. (see Schedule). To be eligible, one must
start and end the trip within 3/4 mile of an existing trolley route.
Paratransit eligibility is granted to an individual with disabilities for any trip he or she would
be unable to make on the available, fixed-route transit system. Some individuals may be
eligible for paratransit services on all trips that they make. Others may be eligible only for
certain trips, under certain circumstances.
An individual may be eligible for paratransit services under any of the following circumstances:
1. He/she is unable (due to his or her impairment) to board, ride or disembark from an
accessible transit vehicle.
2. His/her disability prevents him/her from getting to or from a transit stop. Please note that in
this situation, the eligibility may not apply to all stops, but possibly only those in which an
architectural barrier or environment condition is such that the individual becomes unable to
access them.
Paratransit service involves next day service. However, you may call up to fourteen (14) days
in advance to be sure you can get the time slot that you need.
SHARE-A-RIDE:
In addition to the ADA-Paratransit Services that are available whenever regular fixed route
service is offered, Eureka Transit offers a demand-response (curb-to-curb) service year-round,
Monday through Friday (excluding Holidays when our offices are closed (see Schedule) from
8:30 am to 4:30 pm. While this program is open to the general public for circumstantial travel,
priority will be given to those individuals who are otherwise eligible for ADA-Paratransit
Services (someone traveling from and to a destination that is within 3/4 mile of a fixed route
who is unable to utilize the fixed route system because of a disability as defined by the
Americans with Disabilities Act.)
As with ADA-Paratransit Service, Share-A-Ride is "next-day service". Riders must call the
Transit Office (253-9572) no later than 4:30 pm the day before a ride is needed. Reservations
will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis, and must include the pick-up times for the
initial pick-up and for each scheduled stop.
